This article was originally written over 2 years ago. Many things have changed since then, but the core concept of this article still remains. Many people desire the open ecosystem and backwards software compatibilty of a Windows tablet PC over the confinement of a closed system such as the iPad. In addition, the power and flexibilty of a PC is still greater than that of Android or iOS. The release of Windows 8 has solidified that power, making PC tasks on tablets much easier and native. We have tried to update this article as much as possible citing the latest improvements to the Winpad P100.
As much as we love the sheer sexiness of the iPad, many people agree that it has a lot of shortcomings. Don't get us wrong, the iPad is a revolutionary device, and with the Apple marketing machine behind it, it will go down in history as one of the most defining gadgets of our time. But when the dust settles and the honeymoon period of your purchase is over, certain questions start arising... questions like, Where are the USB ports?, where is the card reader for memory expansion?, why can't I run my PC apps? It has become clear that the iPad is not a replacement to the PC, rather it has created a new consumer electronics category somewhere between the smartphone and netbook. So, wouldn't it be great if someone could take the iPad concept, but stuff Windows into it instead? Then we could have the power of a real PC in a compact, ultra-portable touchscreen solution... and still run all the apps we already use, as well as all the devices and accessories we already have. Worry no more — Winpad P100 to the rescue!
